I’m Travis, a Commercial Lines Field Underwriter at The Hanover Insurance Group. I leverage my deep industry knowledge and strategic relationship-building skills to drive profitable growth and deliver exceptional results.
My professional journey is marked by a demonstrated track record of profitably underwriting complex risks, utilizing sound judgment and analytical prowess to ensure optimal risk selection, terms, and pricing, and continually deliver on enterprise objectives. I excel in teaching, managing teams and projects with precision, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
I am committed to growth and development, as evidenced by my Construction, Risk, and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation and active pursuit of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation to further elevate my expertise. My key strengths include:

• Employ deep underwriting discipline, incorporating keen risk selection and exposure analysis, alongside competent pricing strategies, to successfully underwrite new business within the VA territory across diverse sectors, some of which include construction, retail, real estate, wholesale, manufacturing, restaurant, distribution, and professional services classes.
• Consistently surpass production targets contributing substantially to bottom-line profits for the enterprise; exceeded production plans by 125% while maintaining a Combined Ratio (CR) below 90% in 2023. In FY 2024, currently 128% to a $2,800,000 plan.
• Provide expertise and specialized knowledge (SME) for Construction and Habitational risks to support underwriting decisions and improve overall underwriting quality on the broader Mid-Atlantic and Southeast underwriting teams.
•Cultivate and leverage agency relationships to effectively articulate our value proposition, resulting in optimal business outcomes in a competitive marketplace.
•Collaborate on projects to enhance workflow efficiencies and implement new systems. Served on DMT pilot as key contributor and facilitate ongoing enterprise adoption as a DMT Champion.
•Formally mentor (GRID program) and partner with Hanover L&D to train new UWs and UTs in the UT Fundamentals and UW New Hire programs, fostering professional growth in alignment with enterprise objectives and elevating underwriter level of knowledge within the organization.

• Attained production and loss ratio targets through the composition of profitable new business across various lines including General Liability, Property, Marine, BOP, Umbrella, Auto, and Worker’s Compensation within the designated territory.
• Conducted thorough analysis and evaluation of applications, financial statements, company and industry prospects, risk exposures, controls, rating, and pricing within prescribed guidelines.
• Delivered comprehensive training to new UWs covering underwriting philosophy, line of business training, exposure analysis, and systems proficiency, ensuring a well prepared and knowledgeable team.
• Acted as a professional mentor to several individuals providing guidance and support to foster a culture of underwriting excellence.

• Exercised leadership by overseeing division sailors and coordinating division maintenance assignments in alignment with US Navy warship protocols.
• Contributed to leadership efforts in managing DOD IT infrastructure and assets, proactively troubleshooting computer networking issues, and swiftly resolving critical deficiencies.
• Collaborated with civilian, government, and active-duty personnel to test and deploy cutting-edge medical software systems in Naval medical facilities, ensuring smooth implementation and operational success.
